Telemedicine with Allodocteur.ca: How your virtual consultation works
Welcome to Allodocteur.ca! Our virtual consultation service was designed to offer a convenient and secure alternative to in-person consultations, while meeting your health needs from the comfort of your home. Here is a complete guide to help you prepare and understand how your online consultation will proceed.
Prepare for your virtual consultation
We invite you to read our Telemedicine Guide to better understand the cases in which an online consultation is appropriate.
Important note: For legal reasons, you must be located in Quebec at the time of the consultation. Our doctors are authorized to practice only in this province.
Before the consultation
To ensure an efficient consultation, here is what you can prepare in advance :
1. Health documents and information
• Photo ID: Keep a piece of identification (RAMQ card, driver's license, etc.) handy to show on screen.
• List of your symptoms : Take note of the onset and intensity of your symptoms.
• Recent health data : If possible, prepare your recent data (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc.).
• Medical history : Gather essential information about your health status (chronic diseases, allergies, vaccines, family history).
• Photos and medical documents : Prepare photos (e.g., skin lesions) or other useful documents (e.g., test results) that you can share with the doctor. You can send them in advance by email to our team or share them directly via chat during the consultation.
2. Prepare your equipment
• You will receive a link by email to join the virtual consultation at the time of your appointment. Ensure that your device (phone, tablet, or computer) is charged and ready for video.
• Plan to use headphones or a headset for better sound quality, and choose a quiet, well-lit place for the consultation.
During the consultation
Your consultation will take place securely and confidentially with your doctor, who will listen to your health needs.
• Identification and verification : The doctor will ask you to confirm your identity by showing your ID to the camera. They will also introduce themselves.
• Communication clarity : Stay clearly visible on camera and speak clearly to facilitate the exchange. If someone is present with you, please inform the doctor.
• Document sharing : Use the chat to send the doctor any relevant photos or documents you have prepared. This information helps the doctor better understand your situation and provide a more accurate diagnosis.
• Fluid interaction : Explain your symptoms in a detailed and direct manner, and ask all necessary questions to fully understand the doctor's recommendations.
After the consultation
At the end of your virtual consultation, take the time to carefully note the doctor's advice and recommendations. If you have additional questions or need further information, our team is here to help.
